Don't Just Stand There: Sponsorship Opportunities

Founded in 1989, the AIDS Walk for Life is one of the largest AIDS fundraising events in Canada, raising over $8.5 million to date through the participation of more than 120,000 walkers, hundreds of corporate and community teams and many caring corporate supporters. The Walk brings together people from all ages and walks of life for a day filled with fun, festivities and hope.

Funds raised from the 2011 Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life will support the many programs and services offered by the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT). These include support programs for men, women and youth living with HIV/AIDS as well as community outreach and education programs that help people and reduce their risk for HIV transmission.

Here are just some of the vital programs and services that will be supported through your sponsorship this year:

• Retreat weekends for men, women and young people living with HIV/AIDS
• Employment Action:  A program that helps those living with HIV/AIDS return to the workforce
• Counselling
• Community Health Forums on HIV-related topics
• Social support programs that break down the isolation experienced by many who are living with HIV/AIDS
• Online, real-time outreach: Providing people with information and referrals about HIV/AIDS and sexual health
• Educational campaigns that target communities most affected by HIV/AIDS here in Toronto
• Community education and outreach:  building individual and community health.
